PELLA, Iowa , December 16, 2022 (press release) –
Pella’s newest innovation, Hidden Screen, continues to be recognized for pushing the boundaries of design and technology. The disappearing window screen has won the award for Unique Innovation in the 2022 Window + Door Awards, recognizing the best products in the residential fenestration industry.
“Our goal is to create products that exceed expectations, so it’s great to be recognized in the category of unique innovation,” said Nicolle Picray, senior public relations and talent brand communications manager, Pella Corporation. “As a company, we want to continue to make window and door products that make a difference in homeowners' lives. Hidden Screen is a great example of making people’s lives easier and their homes more beautiful.”
The Hidden Screen appears when you open your window and folds away when the window is closed. The screen provides the clearest view and allows 44 percent more natural light into the home when the window is closed than a standard screen. It was independently tested to 9,400 cycles, which is equivalent to opening and closing your windows once a day for 25 years.
A panel of judges representing all segments of the residential fenestration industry reviewed nominations and selected winners based on a specific set of criteria for each category. Judges cast their ballots for the products, processes, programs and machines they deem to have a substantial impact on the advancement of the industry. In celebration of the Unique Innovation Award, Pella will be featured in Window + Door Weekly, on WindowandDoor.com and across Window + Door’s social media platforms.
This award comes shortly after other Hidden Screen wins - the Best of Product Award for Openings – Windows in this year’s AN Best of Product Awards and recognition on Good Housekeeping’s Inaugural 2022 Home Reno Award List.
The Hidden Screen is available on Pella 250 Series vinyl double-hung, single-hung and sliding windows. For more information, visit: pella.com.
