Ternium and Tenova Shake Hands on Pesquería Mill
| 10/18/2023 - Tenova has signed a contract with Ternium for its new state-of-the-art steel mill in Pesquería, N.L., Mexico, that will include a direct reduction plant, electric arc furnace and two ladle furnaces. |
According to a press release from Tenova, the project will integrate Ternium’s downstream operations into its Pesquería facility in Mexico. The new plant is part of a series of investments Ternium has been making, totaling US$2.2 billion.
Tenova will supply a direct reduction plant with integrated material handling system, including stockyard/train unloading equipment; an electric arc furnace (EAF) equipped with Consteel® and electromagnetic stirrer Consteerrer®, two ladle furnaces, and a fume treatment plant. The plant will have a total annual production capacity of 2.6 million tons of high-quality steel.
The direct reduction plant is based on ENERGIRON® Direct Reduction technology. Additionally, the DR plant will be equipped with carbon capture technology and will be hydrogen-ready.
