Greiner's foam division NEVEON achieves milestone with the successful auditing of its Product Carbon Footprint calculation tool by independent testing authority TÜV Austria; the calculation tool complies with international standard ISO 14067

August 20, 2024 (press release) –

Greiner's foam division NEVEON can now calculate the environmental impact of products in accordance with ISO 14067 - making it an industry pioneer.

  • NEVEON has successfully validated its tool for calculating carbon footprints and can now calculate the environmental impact of products at selected locations in accordance with ISO 14067. This makes the company an industry pioneer.
  • Quantifying a product’s carbon footprint is essential for adapting the product portfolio and targeting research and development activities.

Vienna, August 20, 2024. NEVEON, a globally successful manufacturer and processor of foam and part of the Greiner Group, has reached a significant milestone with the successful auditing of its specially developed Product Carbon Footprint calculation tool (or “PCF calculation tool”). As a renowned and independent testing authority, TÜV Austria confirmed that the calculation logic of the NEVEON PCF calculation tool complies with the international standard ISO 14067. With this certification, NEVEON can now precisely determine the carbon footprints of its foam products (block foams, rolls, and sheets) at foam-producing sites in Austria and abroad in line with international standards. This makes the Austrian company, based in Vienna, an industry pioneer.

Carbon footprint quantification essential for reducing emissions

As part of the Greiner Group, NEVEON is committed to complying with the Science Based Targets initiative. The precise quantification of the product’s carbon footprint is essential in achieving the ambitious climate targets.

Christoph Gruber

Team Leader Data Science at NEVEON

"We are delighted that an independent authority has now checked and validated the logic and system of our internally developed calculation tool. The annual calculation of the carbon footprint of our products is already standard practice at NEVEON. With the new tool, we can increase the accuracy of the calculations and identify hotspots where we can start with further CO2 reduction."

Carolin-Luise Picht

Sustainability Manager at NEVEON

“With this tool, we can analyze and adapt our product portfolio based on its environmental impact and align our research and development activities accordingly. This gives us a powerful tool for reducing emissions.”
