Johnson Matthey, a global leader in sustainable technologies, has officially been validated for their science-based greenhouse gas emissions reductions targets by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) is a collaboration between CDP, the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), World Resources Institute (WRI) and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF).
SBTi has classified JM’s Scope 1 and 2 near-term target ambition and has determined it is in line with the 1.5°C trajectory.
The Target Validation Team has also evaluated JM’s Scope 1, 2, and 3 long-term target ambition and determined its target(s) are aligned with the SBTi's 1.5°C mitigation pathways for reaching 2050 or sooner, currently the most ambitious designation available through the SBTi process.
This validation marks an important milestone in JM’s sustainability journey, and highlights the good progress made towards achieving its long-term goals.
