The latest in what's going on in the world of breakfast:

Cap’n Crunch now in pancake form, and maybe waffles too

Last year, PepsiCo's Cap’n Crunch brand came out with Blueberry Pancake Crunch cereal. But this year, the brand is going one step further with the launch of Cap’n Crunch’s Berrytastic Pancake Mix.

Details are scarce, but Instagram account @junkbanter got their hands on a picture of the product, which rumor has it can also be used as a waffle mix.

The product is filled with “flavored bits,” as described on the box, but doesn't explain further. But with the bits appearing to be the colors red, green, blue and purple, it's a safe bet that those "flavored bits" are the crunch berries themselves!

Vegans and cereal: Answers at last!

Can vegans have cereal?

It's a question that has baffled scientists for years. OK not really, but it's fair to say that many people who claim to be vegan aren't exactly sure if cereal can be part of their everyday diet.

So can vegans have cereal?

The short answer: Yes.

The long answer: Yes, but not all cereal is vegan. The main thing to watch out for is milk or whey protein, which will be noted in the allergens section. But, there are a few other ingredients that you’ll want to scan the entire ingredients list for, such as:

Gelatin.

Honey.

Vitamin D3.

Natural flavors.

Sugar.

And of course:

Tocopherol, which is basically Vitamin E.

The 'cookie' cereal that actually has cookies

"Cookie" cereals are nothing new. Cereals featuring sweetened cookie shapes that aren't actually cookies have been around for years (like Cookie Crisp).

But food blogger Justin Schuble recently posted on TikTok and Instagram a new recipe he's experimenting in which the cookie shapes in the cereal are actually cookies!

How do you make it? Read the recipe here.
