Brazil's Suzano reiterates US$850/tonne eucalyptus pulp price for February in North America

LOS ANGELES , February 1, 2013 (Industry Intelligence Inc.) – Bleached eucalyptus kraft pulp (BEKP) producer Suzano Papel e Celulose SA in Brazil has told customers in North America that its Feb. 1 list price will be unchanged at US$850/tonne.

Suzano and major BEKP producer Fibria Celulose e Papel SA of Brazil had announced the $850/tonne price for Jan. 1, describing it as a $20/tonne increase. Other producers followed this plan, as well.

The other announced BEKP prices for Jan. 1 included $800/tonne for Europe, up $20/tonne, and $700/tonne for China, up $30/tonne.

Suzano said on its website that in 2011, it sold 1.8 million tonnes of pulp, with 31% going to Europe, 36% to Asia, 2% to South/Central America, 20% to Brazil, and 11% to North America. The company said it is the second largest producer of eucalyptus pulp in the world and among the eight largest producers of market pulp.
